Reflections on the Victor Villadangos master class.

The KW Guitar Society had its first master class and it was a resounding success!
Not only was Victor Villadango’s concert a brilliant display of artistry, his teaching is precise, gentle and very detailed. Victor had a good command of English but lucky for us, Demian was here to translate all the finer points. Performers were Reanne, Matt, Liam and Garrett. Victor also did a long segment performing and interpreting the Pujol etudes.
If I was to walk away with one thing that will remain with me, it would be that Victor insisted we sing the music in our heads as we play. What shocked me was that he sings all his music in solfege and that he could write down everything he plays from memory. I asked Victor how much he practices and he said about three hours a day and he will spend about an hour going through his music mentally. Want to be a performer? Than this is the exercise for you, because it solidifies the music you are playing. Victor mentioned fingered memory alone will not be enough when you want to play in front of people.
The master class was an amazing experience and I am inviting others to offer their reflections in the comments box. Please take a moment to share what you learned or thought was really amazing.
Thanks to all who participated!

Even though I was just an audience member, I really enjoyed the Master Class. I learned a lot, and I wanted to practice some new things that I learned. Please sign me up for the Dec. 4 Master Class.

Many thanks to Stephen for organizing and hosting the master class. I have over the years attended many master classes, they are always educational and interesting. I would say that Victor was the best master class teacher that I have experienced.
Awesomeness Stephen!
Congratulations on the new Society!
